Nominator's project description
| Professor van der Beek is a globally recognized leader in quantitative studies of landscape evolution in tectonically active regions. His research merges innovative landscape-evolution models with low-temperature thermochronology and provides novel insights into how the tectonics and erosional processes interact to shape orogenic belts and rifts at a variety of timescales. In Germany, he will focus on deciphering the role of climate oscillations on erosion rates in high mountains and assess possible feedbacks with tectonic processes. |
